Our company at the exhibition of vacancies in London

1 August 2018

The standard length of the trial period for a new employee is three months. During this time the company will have time to understand whether you will be useful to it and whether your skills and knowledge correspond to their expectations.

The new employee in the first months of work also evaluates the company – how much it meets its expectations and how comfortable it is to work in it. But for the employee time for evaluation, more is needed – according to the statistics of recruiters of our agency, an employee leaves the company after six months of work, if something went wrong in a new place. The reasons can be different: the relations with the leader are not developed, the team is not happy, etc. To avoid disappointment from a new place after a long search for vacancies, interviews and agonizing expectations of a decision from companies, one must evaluate offers and make the right choice of the employer. After so much time was spent on finding a new job it’s important not to spoil everything at the stage of choice. In the article we have collected tips that will help you in this.

So, the job offer is on your hands.

So your initial selection of the company has already passed and now it’s time to think about the remaining requirements for future work. In general, it is difficult to give advice on the choice of criteria, because each will have their own. I have changed jobs for the last year and I have something to tell about my mistakes. I will not name the names of companies, let it be a startup A and a large company B.

Before going to startup I worked for a long time in the office near the house, the path in the morning and evening took no more than half an hour on public transport. The office of company A was on the other end of Moscow and the road to it occupied exactly one hour, if you go by metro and bus. A few weeks later, I realized that regular and long trips by subway were too tiring for me. After moving to company B, the road to the office began to occupy the same hour, but now it became possible to combine MZK and a bicycle, which is much more comfortable for me.
Simulate your trip to a new office and try to understand how it will be optimal and comfortable for you, because one or two trips to the interviews will not give you a full understanding.

For all the time I have accumulated many years of experience in the development and testing of software. During the interview with the managers of the start-up And I had a positive impression of engineering and I did not ask questions about the processes and development tools. And in vain. Because the level of development was low and there was a lot of work to do to bring it to the level adopted in large companies. There are no unnecessary questions at the interview. It is better to ask than to be disappointed in your assumptions.
